Sherman’s Amusement Park at Caroga Lake is for sale and listed for $3 million, according to the Leader Herald. George Abdella—a Gloversville attorney--bought Sherman's in 1989 and made improvements. The park with its Ferris wheel and entertainment pavilion dates back to the 1920s. Abdella says the park has been a labor of love for him and his wife and that he hoped to lease it but instead has put it up for sale. Fourth of July fireworks that normally take place at Sherman’s instead will happen at Pine Lake this weekend.

More storms yesterday and more on the way. Glenville and Schenectady hard hit late yesterday afternoon with downed trees, power outages and motorists stranded in flooded roads. Damage also reported in Saratoga, Rensselaer and Albany counties. More severe storms are expected today. Meanwhile, the cleanup continues in Canajoharie where the basement of the Methodist Church took on water and there was other damage from heavy rain on Monday. A flash flood watch continues through tonight.

Gina DeRossi was reelected president of the Amsterdam school board last night. Sean Piasecki was named vice president. New member Raymond Crosby was also at last night’s meeting. The board supported a resolution in favor of a state anti bullying law introduced by Charlie Kraebel, a Recorder editor.
